How to improve your SEO

SEO Really Matters for Small Business Growth

Any way of getting more customers to be aware of your company is a benefit – particularly when they are looking for your product or service. That is why search engine traffic is ideal. You can pay for ads at the top of search engine results, but less than 20% of clicks in search engines go to these ads because most customers are savvy enough to skip those. They rely on the algorithm of Google to serve the best results at the top of the ‘organic’ results, so the goal is to make sure your website is seen at the top. The top 3 results for anyone term get the lion’s share of the clicks, and the first page is generally the cutoff point for any meaningful traffic.

Three components of great SEO:

On-site Optimization

It is all about the content, structure, and layout of your site. Search engines crawl your site to get an understanding of what it’s about (and how authoritative it is), so the information it finds on your website has a big impact in how it ranks pages on your site for relevant search queries.

Content Strategy

The biggest part of your on-site strategy is the ongoing component – the content you continue to produce is the life of your brand.Your content shows off your expertise, gains trust, and gives you a platform for conversion. Yet another claim of “Content is King”!

Off-site Authority Building

Everything else in your SEO campaign should be focused on off-site authority building, meaning building a presence and relationships on external sites and platforms. Google uses the inbound links you have pointing to your site from high-authority sources, to rank your perceived authority.

Let’s get to work on your SEO

I wish I had a magic wand and could tell you that I can get you to the top of page one tomorrow, unfortunately, it not quite that simple. I have been working on SEO techniques for 10+ years and it’s a real art. I’m great at maximizing on-site aspects like keyword emphasis, site maps, meta titles & descriptions. I use a whole bunch of great tools; Yoast, Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, Adwords, and others to research and implement changes to improve ranking. Other pieces require collaboration with clients to build a content strategy and gain valuable backlinks.
